Get More of “The Glee Project” With Shazam!

Palo Alto, CA – June 10, 2011 - Shazam®, the world’s leading mobile discovery company, today announced that Shazam for TV will be featured in Oxygen channel’s new program, The Glee Project, which premieres this Sunday, June 12, at 9:00 EDST.  The Glee Project launches with 12 contenders vying for a seven episode guest role on Fox’s hit series, Glee, and will be coached and judged by that show’s casting director, choreographer, and vocal arranger, with a guest mentor from “Glee” making a special appearance every week.

“We’re excited to be a part of such a great program, giving fans the opportunity to see more video of the celebrity mentors and other behind-the-scenes footage,” said David Jones, Executive Vice President Marketing at Shazam. “Shazam for TV is revolutionizing the way we watch TV – no new gadgets or equipment required, just a smartphone with the Shazam App makes watching TV a more fun and interactive experience.”

Shazam leads the mobile discovery industry with a reach of more than 125 million Shazamers and more than a million new users added every week.  Shazam for TV gives viewers a “second screen” experience – the screens of their mobile phones – and the opportunity to engage with their favorite shows without interrupting what they’re watching.  By tagging the programs they love, Shazamers can get access to content not available elsewhere, share their tags on Twitter or use the Shazam Friends feature to share their discoveries with their Facebook friends and see a real-time feed of what their friends are watching.

“We integrated Shazam into our programming to bring a unique element to our digital strategy and give Oxygen another channel to reach our tech-savvy viewers,” said Jennifer Kavanagh, Vice President, Digital for Oxygen. “Shazam for TV gives our viewers an easy and fun way to engage with our shows, go behind the scenes and share what they’re watching with their friends.”
