Shazam Continues Its Support of (RED) on World AIDS Day

London, UK – 29 November, 2012 - Shazam®, the world’s leading media engagement company, today announced that, for a second year, it is reducing the price of its Special Edition (SHAZAM)RED  App on iPhone and iPod touch to $1.99/£1.49/€ 1.59 in recognition of World AIDS Day and will donate 100% of the day’s proceeds for this app to the Global Fund.  Shazam launched (SHAZAM)RED in 2009 as part of its partnership with (RED) in support of the goal to fight AIDS and help deliver an AIDS Free Generation by 2015.

 “We at Shazam are proud partners with (RED) and are excited about playing a part in the campaign ‘DANCE (RED), SAVE LIVES’,” said Andrew Fisher, Shazam CEO.  “It's easy for everyone to make a difference in someone's life by simply purchasing a (RED) product, including downloading the  (SHAZAM)RED  App on iTunes, so we hope that everyone will join the fight for an AIDS Free Generation by 2015.

The first of December is World AIDS Day, an opportunity to raise awareness of the disease and promote fundraising to support AIDS prevention, treatment and education.  This year, (RED) has partnered with the leading DJ, Tiësto, who will be livestreaming his dance event from Australia.  (RED) is also hosting live dance events in Los Angeles, New York and Miami, and they released “DANCE (RED), SAVE LIVES”, an album featuring Tiësto, Diplo, Martin Solveig and other major names in dance music.

Every day 900 babies are born with HIV.  By 2015, that number can be near zero. With the global economy still in crisis, support for programs like the Global Fund is more important than ever.  As a Special Edition (PRODUCT) RED partner, Shazam is supporting World AIDS Day by:

  • Reducing the cost of its (SHAZAM)RED App to $1.99/£1.49/€ 1.59 December 1-7 and donating 100% of its proceeds to the Global Fund;
  • Promoting Tiësto’s album for (RED), “DANCE (RED), SAVE LIVES”; and,
  • Promoting the global dance event featuring Tiësto.

For people who don’t have the (SHAZAM)RED App, they can download it from the iTunes App Store.  (SHAZAM)RED offers people the same great premium service as in Encore, including unlimited tagging, LyricPlay, Shazam Friends, YouTube videos, and tour information.  The difference is that, through the (SHAZAM)RED App, you can make a positive difference to people’s lives.
