Norway: An Affordable Skiing Paradise

Take your whole family skiing in Norway this winter! With long and snowy seasons, lots of activities, wonderful resorts, and breathtaking views, Norway offers something for every skier. Many of the largest resorts are easily accessible by train or bus and are within reach of airports and ferry terminals.

Norway is a more affordable ski destination
When planning a ski vacation, snow and prices are key concerns. Norway offers both! With abundant snow and the Norwegian krone NOK at a historical low in 2024, you can enjoy up to 20-30% more value for your euros, dollars, and Danish kroner, compared to a few years ago.

On December 11th, 2024, the exchange rates were:

1 Euro = NOK 11.72
1 USD = NOK 11,16
1 GBP = NOK 14,21
100 Danish krone (DKK) = NOK 157.11
100 Swedish krona (SEK) = NOK 101.65

That means that for 100 euro, you will now get around NOK 1,172, while 100 U.S. dollars will give you NOK 1,115. An average hotel room for two, with a good breakfast included, will typically cost around NOK 1,725 per night, according to Momondo. However, prices can vary due to seasons and locations.

Rise in international visitors

– We are delighted to welcome an increasing number of international ski guests! Our well-developed alpine destinations cater to all abilities, with easy access to slopes, professional ski schools, and a variety of restaurants. We are now ready for the Christmas rush with plenty of snow, says Camilla Sylling Clausen, head of the industry association for ski resorts in Norway.

All skills are welcome
The majority of Norway’s best ski resorts are very family-friendly, with children’s slopes and ski schools. These destinations also offer challenges for more advanced skiers. You can ski down a diamond piste, challenge yourself on jumps and rails, or get lucky and experience perfect powder further up the mountain.

From fun in the slopes to after-ski

It’s this combination of beginner’s fun and action-packed slopes that make Norwegian ski destinations so popular. Friends and families can go on ski holidays together, even if they’re not at the same skill level. If you travel without kids, head for a lively after-ski bar and enjoy a tasty meal in a cozy restaurant.

The ski lifts are running from December and will stay open until end of April.
