Press release -

Visit Trondheim and Twinings Tea to Collaborate on Gourmet Tourism Initiative

Visit Trondheim, the official tourism board for the city of Trondheim, Norway and Twinings Tea, announce the start of a collaboration which will see the two parties work together on a series of initiatives to help increase tourism interest in Trondheim and, inter alia, the profile of Twinings Tea in Norway.

Background to this collaboration

Twinings Tea has a long association with the city of Trondheim, where the company has recently awarded its prestigious “Best Breakfast Award” to the Scandic Hotel Nidelven, for the thirteenth time over some fifteen years since the inception of the awards. The recent opening of the Britannia Hotel, in Trondheim, which is a member of Leading Hotels of the World, will see Twinings Tea supply this world-class hotel with its selection of teas. Recently, the city of Trondheim has seen two of its city restaurants (CREDO and Fagn) both receive Michelin Stars for their fine cuisine. On February, 17, 2020, a stellar assembly of the Nordic countries’ leading chefs and restaurant owners will be meeting in Trondheim for the launch of the Michelin Guide Nordic Countries 2020.

Entice visitors to the Home of Nordic Flavours

Trondheim is now emerging as one of the most important culinary centres in northern Europe, where the city’s tourism strategy is now firmly focused in gourmet tourism, with the launch of “Trondheim-Home of Nordic Flavours” branding.

This collaboration will see both companies co-brand and distribute gourmet city break packages across international markets in a process geared to helping food and drink lovers choose Trondheim for their vacation.

– We are delighted to be taking our relationship with Twinings, which is regarded by many as one of the finest teas in the world, to a new level, Tanja Holmen the CEO of Visit Trondheim said.

Stephen Twining, Director of Corporate Relations at Twinings said:
– Trondheim has a very special relationship with Britain. I am delighted by this new collaboration with Trondheim, where tourism can play a vital role in showcasing our Twinings range of teas, which is the number 1 tea brand in Norway.

– I am delighted that through our sales team and distributor Haugen-Gruppen in Norway, we can play our role in helping grow tourism to Trondhiem, a city that we enjoy a strong relationship with and where leading hotels like Scandic Nidelven and Britannia provide a wonderful ambiance in which to enjoy our fine ranges of tea.
