Haiden Deegan Wins Career First Supercross Title in 250SX West

May 13, 2024 – On Saturday, May 3, 2025, Round 16 of the AMA Supercross Championship (Round 9 of 250SX West) was held in Denver, Colorado. There, Haiden Deegan, riding for the Monster Energy Star Yamaha Racing 250 Team on the YZ250F, took his third win of the season, and with it lifted his first Supercross title in his third year of AMA pro competition. The title win marks Yamaha’s first 250SX crown since Christian Craig won in 2022.

Deegan made his debut in 250SX in 2023. He lined up for the 250SX East season opener in Houston at the age of 17, where he finished 4th. After this he stood on the podium three times to take 2nd overall for the season, following it up with 4th overall in 250MX. Then, in the SuperMotocross World Championship (250SMX) that started the same year, he was crowned champion as a rookie.

His momentum continued into 2024 as he contested 250SX East again, where he won at Round 2 in Arlington. He stayed within reach of the title until the final round, before finishing 2nd overall for the season. In 250MX, he won his first title in the class, then went on to clinch his second 250SMX title the same year. His meteoric rise through the ranks and subsequent title wins had already solidified his spot as one of the top young talents in motocross.

For the 2025 season, Deegan entered 250SX West and after a slow start with a 4th place in the opening round, took his first win at Round 3 in Anaheim. He followed it up with a second victory at Round 5, bringing him to the top of the standings. He then lost out on two wins to teammate Cole Davies, but remained in the podium positions to retain his championship lead.

On May 3, in the main event of Round 9 of the 250SX West season, Deegan was in 3rd behind teammates Michael Mosiman and Cole Davies. In the closing laps he came from behind to take the lead and notch up his third win of the season. This opened a 25 point gap to Davies in the standings, clinching Deegan’s career-first supercross title with one round still remaining.

Going forward into the rest of 2025, Deegan will continue to compete on the YZ250F in the AMA Motocross Championship, which kicks off on May 24 as he aims to make it back-to-back 250MX titles. Finally, the 250SMX championship gets underway on September 6, and presents the chance to become champion for the third year in a row.
