Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series Fukuoka

Building towards the America’s Cup - hosted in Japan for the first time ever - the Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series Fukuoka was successfully concluded over two days, on November 19 and 20.
Softbank Team Japan, which is supported by Yamaha Motor, recorded results of 5-1-6-5-6-2 in the six races contested over two days between the six teams, for an overall result of 61 points and fifth place. First place with 75 points was Land Rover BAR of the U.K.The results ultimately underlined the gap with the rest of the world’s teams, but in the first day’s second race, Softbank Team Japan put clear distance between itself and the chasing boats to finish in first place. The sight of the Japanese boat foiling on the downwind leg had the more than 6,000 spectators who packed the Jigyōhama waterfront going wild with excitement.
The overall standings after this event saw Land Rover BAR of the U.K. leading with 512 points, and Softbank Team Japan fifth with 460 points.Anticipation is building for the 35th America’s Cup, to be held in Bermuda in 2017.
The challenger will be determined in qualifiers held from May 26 to June 12, and the final contest against the defender ORACLE TEAM USA will take place in the America’s Cup Match from June 17 to 27.
Many battles still lie ahead, and Yamaha Motor will be supporting Softbank Team Japan’s efforts in Bermuda on both the water and the land.
