Press release -
Yanmar to Build New Emergency Power System Factory for Data Centers in Fukuoka, Japan
Osaka, Japan (April 7, 2026) – Yanmar Energy System Co., Ltd., a group company of Yanmar Holdings Co., Ltd., will begin construction of a new factory in Fukuoka to meet strong demand for emergency power generation systems mainly for data centers. The factory is scheduled to begin operations in 2028 as a core production base for Yanmar Energy System Manufacturing Co., Ltd., the manufacturing subsidiary of Yanmar Energy System. The company signed a site agreement with the city of Kitakyushu, Fukuoka, on April 7, 2026.
Yanmar Energy System announced its large-capacity emergency power generation system, the GY175 Series, in October 2025 for use in data centers and other facilities. In addition to existing models in the 2,000 kVA-class, the company plans to expand the lineup to include 3,000 kVA-class models from fiscal 2026 and 4,000 kVA-class models from fiscal 2028.
The GY series are also deployed by Yanmar subsidiary HIMOINSA in its HGY series generators, enabling product standardization and supporting the group’s global supply capabilities.
With the new Kitakyushu factory, the company will strengthen its product lineup and supply system to meet growing business continuity plan (BCP) demand. This includes large-scale facilities such as data centers—where continuous power supply is critical during outages—as well as factories, buildings and hospitals, amid expanding digital transformation (DX). In the future, the factory is also expected to produce energy system equipment that contributes to carbon neutrality, positioning it as a key manufacturing base for energy systems.
Kitakyushu was selected for its well-developed manufacturing infrastructure, including logistics by land, sea and air, and a strong concentration of suppliers. The city’s growing renewable energy-related industries also align with the Yanmar Group’s strategic direction, while enabling close coordination with related manufacturing sites in Fukuoka, Okayama and Hyogo prefectures.
