New World Record: DKK 1.2 million for Panthère diamond bangle from Cartier

The summer's international auction at Bruun Rasmussen continues to surprise! Thursday, a new Danish auction record was achieved with the legendary panther bangle from Cartier, which went for DKK 1.2 million (€210,000 including buyer’s premium). It is the highest hammer price ever achieved at a jewellery auction in Denmark as well as being the world's highest hammer price on Cartier's panther diamond bracelet!

"We are exceedingly happy about Thursday’s sale, which resulted in a new world record on Cartier's panther diamond bangle and a new Danish record at our own jewellery auctions. You could have heard a pin drop in the saleroom right before the hammer fell on the bid of DKK 1.2 million for the bangle – the ultimate piece of iconic jewellery," says Katrin Mikkelsen Sørensen, Head of International Jewellery at Bruun Rasmussen.

It is the first time in the history of Bruun Rasmussen that we have had Cartier's panther diamond bangle up for auction, which has only been offered three times earlier on the international auction market via Christie's and Sotheby's. Cartier, known as "The jeweller of the kings, and the king of jewellers", was founded in Paris in 1847 and has since then produced some of the world's most exclusive jewellery pieces and wristwatches. The panther was used for the first time as a decorative element on a wristwatch in 1914 and has since then been the epitome of Cartier's elegance and exclusivity.
