The highlight of this summer's auction at Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers in Copenhagen is a magnificent painting by Henri Hayden from 1920 and entitled "Bretonne". With the painting’s multi-perspective it can rightly be called pure cubist and musical in its style. The painting originates from the artist's relatively short cubist period between 1915 to 1922.

Thursday's design auction had buyers from all over the world bidding on especially Finn Juhl’s furniture. A dining room set with Juhl's "Egyptian Chairs" and a "Judas Table" delivered the biggest surprise with a hammer price of DKK 770,000 (€ 134,000 including buyer’s premium) and DKK 250,000 (€ 44,000 including buyer’s premium) respectively.

The art historian, Dr Lennart Gottlieb discusses the background of Giersing’s “Fokin and Fokina”, one of the last central works in private ownership from the Danish artist Harald Giersing’s Cubist/Expressionist period between 1917 and 1920.
