Två selektionslinjer höns, härstammande från en gemensam ursprungslinje, har ingått i studien. Efter 40 generationers selektivt urval visar de två linjerna en nästan tiofaldig skillnad i kroppsvikt vid åtta veckors ålder. These lines were developed from a common ancestor and show a ten-fold difference in body weight at eight weeks of age after 40 generations of selections for low or high growth.
