Press release -
Anchor and Smarties tie-in makes summer full of beans
The makers of Anchor Real Dairy Cream have announced that they're to team up with Britain's favourite chocolate beans, Smarties, for a summer promotion.
They're giving away free mini-cartons of Smarties with cans of both Anchor Real Dairy Cream and Anchor Light Real Dairy Cream.
The joint promotion, which runs from the beginning of July for six weeks, will also be supported by point of sale material.
It will include a competition on the special edition Smarties' packs of Anchor Real Dairy Cream and Anchor Light Real Dairy Cream in which customers could win a year's family pass to Tussaud attractions - which include Madame Tussaud's Waxworks, Alton Towers, Thorpe Park and Chessington World of Adventures.
To enter, they must suggest an exciting new recipe featuring both Anchor Real Dairy Cream and Smarties.
There are also five runners-up prizes of a year's supply of Smarties' mini-cartons.
Anchor Brand Manager Gretel Edward said the partnership was intended to extend the Anchor offering to consumers by combining two successful brands. She added: "Both Anchor Real Dairy Cream and Smarties are brand leaders. Working together, we are able to offer significant added value to customers, something we're always aiming to do".
The partnership with Anchor also means that customers will be able to indulge their sweet tooth without feeling too guilty. Anchor Light Real Dairy Cream also has only 45 calories per 100ml - about eight times the amount in a full-fat cream.
It also contains just 3.9 grams of fat per 100ml - that's around a tenth of fat in a full-fat cream.
Anchor Real Dairy Cream comes in an easy-to-use 250-gram red can while Anchor Light Real Dairy Cream is available in a bright blue can - both of which retail at approximately £1.49.
