Support young coeliacs by running, walking or cycling

Coeliac Day Virtual Run

Coeliac Day Virtual Run is a pan-European online exercise event which you can join from May 16th until May 21st. We do this to mark International Coeliac Awareness Day and, this year, also to support young coeliacs in Europe.

What is a virtual run?

No, you don't run in cyberspace. The exercise is performed physically, but you can do it anywhere in the world. It doesn't matter where you live. Everybody can join and compare results, should they want to.

You simply register online to walk, run or cycle a distance of 3 or 10 kilometers between May 16th – 21st and you do it wherever you want to. The cost for participating is 10€ or the equivalent of that amount if you have a different currency in the country where you live.

If you have a competitive soul and want to check who is the fastest, you just visit the race page and compare your results. But, it really isn't a competition. It is all about showing your support for young coeliacs and caring for people with coeliac disease.

Let's make some noise about coeliac disease

Coeliac disease is a lifelong autoimmune condition that prevents you from eating anything that contains gluten, such as bread, pasta, cakes and so on. It is affecting circa 1,5% of the world's population and the only treatment is a strict diet without gluten. Every day.

On the 16th of May, we mark International Coeliac Awareness Day. For that reason, AOECS and our national member coeliac societies are organizing a series of events. Coeliac Day Run is one.

Use our hashtag

If you participate in this or any other coeliac event during and around May 16th make sure to post a photo on your social media using the hashtag #together4coeliacs to stir up some dust about coeliac disease.
