Atomic Introduces Shift² 16 MN: Proven Free-Touring Binding, Refined for Big-Mountain Performance

Altenmarkt, Austria – January, 2026 – Atomic expands its hybrid binding portfolio with the Shift² 16 MN, the next evolution of one of the most popular free-touring binding. Developed in close collaboration with the Atomic Freeride team, the Shift² 16 MN is designed for skiers who demand efficient uphill performance and uncompromising confidence on the descent.

Working closely with Atomic athletes including Daron Rahlves, Tonje Kvivik, and Craig Murray, Atomic focused on improving downhill power, stability, and vibration control while preserving the binding’s proven touring functionality. The result is a hybrid binding built for aggressive freeride skiing in demanding terrain.

At the core of the Shift² 16 MN is the new Micro AFD with an integrated aluminum Power Block, increasing lateral stiffness for more direct power transfer. A reinforced baseplate combining metal and rubber improves precision while effectively damping vibrations at speed. The redesigned 3-Part Power Heel enhances shock absorption and retention, delivering greater security when charging in big-mountain conditions.

For touring efficiency and durability, the Shift² 16 MN features a full-aluminum Hike and Ride Switch, ensuring smooth, reliable transitions between uphill and downhill modes. Multi Norm Certified, the binding is compatible with all normed ski boots currently on the market, making it a versatile choice for a wide range of freeride and free-touring setups.

  • DIN range: 8 - 16
  • Adjusting range: 30 mm
  • Weight: 1210 grams

With the Shift² 16 MN, Atomic refines a proven concept—offering freeride skiers a binding that climbs efficiently and descends with maximum power, precision, and control.
