Axkid launches Minikid Core – a rear-facing car seat that makes safety easy
Axkid today announces the global launch of Minikid Core, a new rear-facing car seat designed to make everyday child safety simpler and more accessible. As the newest member of Axkid’s popular and award-winning Minikid platform, Minikid Core combines premium safety performance with an easier, more flexible user experience — from installation to daily use.
Approved for children 40–125 cm (up to 28 kg), Minikid Core supports extended rear-facing travel from newborn to approximately 7 years of age.

Simplified installation — without compromising safety
Minikid Core is a belt-installed rear-facing car seat that requires installation using only the vehicle seat belt — with no ISOFIX. Unlike traditional belt-installed seats, it does not use lower tether straps. Instead, it is equipped with an integrated anti-rotation bar and a support leg, ensuring a secure and stable installation while reducing complexity.
This innovative construction makes Minikid Core Axkid’s lightest belt-mounted seat to install and allows placement in virtually any seating position — including the front passenger seat where permitted. The absence of ISOFIX further enhances compatibility, making the seat easy to use across a broad range of vehicles, from compact city cars to larger family cars.
Designed to grow with the child
Minikid Core is engineered to adapt both to the vehicle and to the growing child:
- DualRecline™ — a unique 2-step recline base that lets parents rotate the base to adjust the seat angle for improved comfort and positioning as the child grows, with one setting optimized for smaller children and one for larger children.
- Anti-rotation bar with four adjustable legroom positions for enhanced comfort for older children.
- 8-step adjustable headrest, ensuring the headrest and harness are always positioned correctly and safely as your child grows.
- CompactFit™ design that takes up minimal space, making it easier to fit in smaller cars or enable three seats across.
- SafeLock™ — an enhanced belt clamp system that keeps the vehicle seat belt firmly in place for a secure and stable installation.
Tested beyond standards
Like the entire Minikid family, Minikid Core is tested beyond standards to ensure uncompromising safety performance in real-life conditions.
- Swedish Plus Test approved - one of the world's toughest crash tests.
- Tested with a larger test dummy (HIIIW 6YO dummy), enabling Minikid Core to be approved up to 28 kg.
- Minikid Core has also been tested for installation with a 2-point seatbelt, supporting use in more vehicle types such as buses and vans.
