Artworks by Filipino artist Fernando Amorsolo fetched sky-high prices at auction
A flurry of bidding swept through the Danish auction house Bruun Rasmussen’s auction room on Monday evening, when three works by the Filipino artist Fernando Amorsolo went under the hammer. The winning bids far exceeded expectations, with the hammer falling at EUR 371,670 (incl. buyer’s premium), EUR 212,380 (incl. buyer’s premium) and EUR 130,970 (incl. buyer’s premium) respectively.

Untitled (Panel 6 from Sex in the Shed), 1975 by Tom of Finland (1920-1991) sold for €44,800 against an estimate of €20,000 to 30,000 at Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr in Brussels on Tuesday 25 June 2024. Four other lots by the artist achieved strong prices far ahead their pre-sale estimate such as Untitled (Panel 6 from Sex in the Shed), 1975 sold for €20,480.

Works by the queen have featured in a number of exhibitions, both in Denmark and abroad, but it’s not every day that the opportunity arises to acquire one of them. The royal work of art is estimated at DKK 75,000–100,000.
