Press release -

AMAC Aerospace Hold STC for Halon Free Fire Extinguisher Modification

EuroAirport, 13.10.2025 – AMAC Aerospace is proud to announce that we hold a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the installation of Halon-free fire extinguishers. This STC covers a multitude of aircraft types, ensuring customers can make a smooth and safe transition following the upcoming environmental regulations.

As part of global environmental protection regulations, aviation authorities have decided to phase out Halon based portable extinguishers, used to protect cabin and crew compartments, due to the presence of ozone-depleting substances in these extinguishers. In compliance with these regulations, all Halon fire extinguishers must be replaced with environment-friendly alternatives by December 31, 2025.

AMAC Aerospace Group of Companies has already welcomed several customers for these modifications in Basel, Switzerland, and at JCB Aero in Auch, France. Both AMAC Aerospace and JCB Aero are fully equipped to carry out the removal of Halon and re-installation of Halon-free extinguishers.

Operators with fire extinguishers containing Halon are encouraged to contact our teams to plan the replacement before the end of 2025.
