You know her for her literary works – but did you know that she was also a painter? One of Karen Blixen’s rare artworks is now featured in our Live Auction on 9 March: a sensuous interplay between the soft, organic forms of colourful flowers and their reflections in a polished tabletop. Most of Karen Blixen’s paintings are preserved at Rungstedlund, north of Copenhagen – her Danish home, now the Karen Blixen Museum. It is exceptionally rare for one of her works to appear in a private collection or on the auction market. 🔗 Read the story via the link in our bio. 🔗 Want to know more? Our new themed auction, Fantastic Women, is now online and ready for you to explore. Here, we present a vibrant gallery of works created by women across generations and expressions. The focus is on artists and designers whose voices have left a significant mark on the history of art and design in Denmark. Despite differences in artistic medium, time period and personality, many of the women share a common story: they have often stood in the shadow of their male colleagues, fought for the right to create freely, and in some cases even been forgotten by history. Today, many of these women stand as role models for their creative sisters of later generations. 🔗 Explore the selection via the link in our bio.
