Although our insulated jackets are durably made using tear-resistant outer fabrics, accidents can still happen when you’re exploring the wilderness. Follow the instructions below to repair holes and keep your garment outdoor-ready. HOW TO REPAIR A HOLE What you’ll need: - Self-adhesive, pressure-sensitive repair tape or patches (these are commonly available at specialist outdoor stores) - A pair of scissors - A flat and smooth tool What to do: 1. Gently clean and dry the area around the hole. Remove any dirt or loose debris, but avoid machine washing to prevent the hole from getting larger. 2. Trim any loose threads around the hole and carefully push any feathers back inside. Avoid pulling feathers out, as this can enlarge the hole and lead to more feathers escaping. 3. Prepare your repair patch or tape. If it needs trimming, draw an oval (or another shape with rounded edges) on the backside of the patch. Ensure the patch is large enough to leave at least a one-centimeter margin around the hole. 4. Use scissors to cut out the patch, ensuring the edges are well-rounded to prevent peeling. 5. Carefully peel off the backing from the patch, avoiding contact with the sticky side. 6. Place the patch over the hole, press it firmly onto the fabric, and use your fingernail or a tool like a credit card (with smooth edges) to smooth out any trapped air bubbles. 7. Firmly apply pressure for a little longer to ensure the patch adheres securely — and you’re done! → Tap the link in bio for more insulation care tips

Did you know that our insulated products are also lightly water repellent? Washing and reactivating your insulated jacket’s waterproofing from time to time is essential for a long life of performance. Here is how to do it ⤵ HOW TO REPROOF YOUR INSULATED GARMENT 1. Follow our washing instructions for down garments (see link in bio). 2. Before tumble drying, start a second washing cycle. This time, instead of adding a technical detergent, add a waterproofing product — found at specialized outdoor stores — following the product’s dosage and cycle setting instructions, then run the cycle. 3. Tumble dry on a low heat setting together with a few clean tennis balls until the garment is completely dry. → Tap the link in bio for more insulation care tips #haglöfs #outsidersbynature

How often should you wash? It might be intimidating, but washing your insulated jacket is probably easier than you think. Plus, addressing odors and stains goes beyond aesthetics. It helps maintain the performance of your insulated gear over the long run. We recommend washing your down or synthetic-insulated garment whenever there are visible stains or noticeable odors, as well as with regular or heavy usage—like at the end of an outdoor season or long adventure. HOW TO WASH YOUR INSULATED GEAR 1. Prepare the garment: Empty all pockets, close zippers, fasten any loose flaps or closures, and turn the garment inside out. 2. Check the care label and select a washing cycle at the suggested temperature. 3. If possible, pre-rinse the product without detergent. This helps saturate the items, allowing the detergent to penetrate the fabrics more effectively and get to the down clusters to clean them thoroughly. 4. Add a technical down detergent or, if unavailable, a small amount of mild liquid detergent (around 1/3 of the recommended dosage). 5. Run the cycle. 6. After washing, run an extra rinse cycle without detergent. 7. Tumble dry on a low heat setting together with a few clean tennis balls until the garment is completely dry. Avoid the temptation to remove the garment from the dryer too soon—even if the outer fabrics feel dry, the down inside can still retain moisture. → Tap the link in bio for more insulation care tips #haglöfs #outsidersbynature #haglöfshighlights

That fresh powder might look tempting, but proceed with caution. Snowfall in the Northern Alps has been below average so far this year, while it’s been more consistent in the southern region. However, a significant hazard lies beneath the surface: the old snow, aka a persistent weak layer. Aspiring mountain guide @fuersingerjulian has learned to respect the snowpack. He does his research before heading out and adapts his plans if necessary. “This problem is widespread across much of the Alps and won’t go away anytime soon. The solution is to act defensively when choosing routes and to enjoy gentler terrain. The beautiful and flat larch forests in the southern Gotthard region are perfect for this. And the espresso in southern Switzerland tastes better too.” 📷: @aarny #haglöfs #outsidersbynature
