Press release

Haglöfs dedicates its new ski touring collection to Nallo – one of Sweden’s most remote peaks.

With the launch of the Nallo collection, Haglöfs embraces the unpredictable nature of ski touring in Sweden. Through robust, performance-focused gear that’s highly adaptable to both conditions and levels of exertion, the collection allows tourers to face uncertainty with confidence.

In Sweden, ski touring is shaped by the rugged terrain of the vast Scandinavian mountains and unpredictable conditions. For Haglöfs’ new touring collection, the design team engineered a shell set, a down jacket, and a hybrid midlayer inspired by one of Sweden’s most remote places: Nallo.

Even from Kiruna, 200 km north of the Arctic Circle, reaching Nallo is a mission. A drive to Nikkaluokta, a snowmobile ride to Sälka, an overnight stay, and then a hike on the final stretch to Nallo. Despite the effort and planning required, mountain guide Martin “Bruce” Lundberg has been making this journey for over 15 years – and he keeps coming back to this day.

“It’s truly remote. But the journey to Nallo is always a beautiful one. You pass all high-alpine mountains of Sweden, and you have them all to yourself.” To thrive in this environment, Lundberg is quick to point out that you can’t rely on anything that you don’t bring yourself. “You’ll need to bring your own food and a bigger toolbox than usual. You need gear that you can trust. If something breaks out there, you can’t easily replace it.”

This in mind, the Haglöfs design team knew they had to make the Nallo collection as protective and durable as possible – while keeping it light and breathable to support ambitious adventures. Designer Franziska Knitsch recalls the early considerations that shaped the collection. “Whether it’s under the moonlight of midwinter or the endless daylight of spring, the Nordic environment is always demanding. Because you’re often out there on your own, reliability becomes essential.”

To ensure the Nallo styles thrive in the unpredictable Nordic weather, the prototypes were tested in the very situations that they’re made for. By those that turn the remote Swedish backcountry into their playground.

“We worked closely with our team of ambassadors and athletes,” Knitsch details. “We created the prototypes much earlier and sent them to our team of testers in Åre. Their feedback became the foundation of our design concept.”

Franziska Knitsch and the team then translated these insights into a set of core features that define every product in the collection: An articulated, forward-leaning fit matches the uphill motion of the ascent; Ski-boot-compatible hems; and backpack-friendly vents ensure that the styles work with essential ski touring equipment.

Aware of the need for emergency equipment in the Swedish backcountry, Haglöfs also partnered with Twiceme® for the Nallo shell set. Paired with the Twiceme® app, the built-in technology makes your medical ID available in seconds. Just hold a phone to the Twiceme® symbol on the Nallo Touring GTX Jacket and Pant and access vital information when it matters.

With the Nallo launch, Haglöfs will introduce four new styles:

The Nallo Touring GTX Jacket & Pant

A lightweight and waterproof shell set for ski touring all over the mountain. Made from a durably waterproof 3-layer GORE-TEX ripstop textile with adjustable details that complement essential touring equipment. Featuring twiceme® digital safety technology.

The Nallo Touring Down Hood

A weather-resistant down jacket, filled with 800-fill-power ExpeDRY™ down for reliable warmth in humid conditions. It offers plenty of storage and can belayered over your shell jacket on breaks or before the descent.

The Nallo Touring Hybrid Mid

A comfortable mid-layer jacket, prepared for the ascent and descent. Its hybrid design combines a stretchy and breathable Octa® fleece with a windproof and abrasion-resistant Pertex Quantum® overlay.

The collection will be available from fall 2026 in Haglöfs stores and on haglofs.com.
