100th LNG Carrier Reaches LNG Terminal Wilhelmshaven 01

At the end of July 2025, the 100th LNG carrier landed at the Wilhelmshaven 01 LNG Terminal. The arrival of the "Venture Gator" at Voslapper Groden marks another important milestone since the commissioning of Germany's first floating LNG terminal at the end of 2022. The cargo of all 100 LNG carriers comprised approximately 100 TWH of natural gas after regasification. This means that the terminal has been able to continuously supply approximately 1.6 million households to date. These figures underscore Wilhelmshaven's central role in the country's energy supply.

Approximately 160,000 cubic meters of LNG are transferred per delivery. Since commissioning, Wilhelmshaven 01 has established itself as a stable and secure hub for the delivery of liquefied natural gas. Since the start of operations in December 2022, there have been no unplanned shutdowns or unavailability of the facility. Furthermore, no reportable work-related accidents have been reported. The terminal is fully booked until the end of the year. The market also accepted all regasification capacities for Wilhelmshaven 01 offered by DET in the associated marketing round at the beginning of July for 2026.

"The 100th delivery is not only a logistical milestone, but also an energy policy milestone. Our terminal in Wilhelmshaven has proven itself as a reliable location for securing energy supplies during the crisis and is now continuously preventing a repeat of this. My thanks go to all partner companies, stakeholders, and of course to our customers, who value the high quality and safety standards at our terminals. We are already addressing the question of how we can contribute our local capabilities to the transformation to renewable energy resources," said Dr. Peter Röttgen, Managing Director of Deutsche Energy Terminal GmbH (DET)

"The arrival of the 100th LNG carrier in Wilhelmshaven represents a significant operational and strategic milestone. As the owner and technical operator of the FSRU, we are proud of the role that the Höegh Esperanza and our colleagues on board are playing in strengthening Germany's energy security, and we look forward to continuing our close and fruitful cooperation with DET and the other terminal partners to ensure safe and reliable operations," said Vegard Hellekleir, Chief Operating Officer, Höegh Evi.
