2 MW Electrolyzer Delivered to the Düsseldorf Municipal Utility Company
At the end of February, a two-megawatt electrolyzer from Fest GmbH was delivered to Düsseldorf's municipal utility company. The system will be used to produce local hydrogen from the biogenic electricity generated by a waste incineration plant, which will then supply a hydrogen refueling station.
According to the utility company, hydrogen production could begin as early as mid-year. The hydrogen produced will be delivered directly to the public refueling station on Höherweg. The station, opened last year by H2 MOBILITY, already supplies the first fuel cell buses operated by Rheinbahn AG. The hydrogen currently supplied by trailer will be partially supplemented by the utility company's local production.
The project is being funded by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs with approximately €1.2 million as part of the National Innovation Program for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology. The company estimates the total cost of the project at around €3 million.
