Biomethane liquefaction plant of Erdgas Südwest Bio-LNG GmbH starts regular operation

One of the largest biomethane liquefaction plants in Germany goes into regular operation. Erdgas Südwest Bio-LNG GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Erdgas Südwest GmbH, is thus opening up access to individual contract liquefaction for various industries. This enables them to operate in a climate-neutral manner and generate additional revenue.

With liquefaction capacities of 65,700 tons of bio-LNG or around 1 TWh, Erdgas Südwest Bio-LNG GmbH offers customers the opportunity to liquefy their gas and thus produce bio-LNG or LNG. Liquefaction is particularly interesting for biomethane producers or traders, as Bio-LNG represents a profitable marketing opportunity outside of traditional EEG electricity generation. Thanks to the contract liquefaction model, the GHG quota remains the property of the companies and can be marketed by them. In addition to filling station operators, industrial customers or local authorities can also benefit - if a direct supply of bio-LNG or LNG is required, this can be provided via the EnBW Group network.

Four tanks with a total storage capacity of 540 tons and two loading stations on the plant site create flexibility; the favourable geographical location with access to the A7 freeway and the Central Germany Interconnector Pipeline (MIDAL) is a key advantage. The location in the middle of Germany reduces travel distances and saves transportation costs for those collecting the bio-LNG or LNG produced.
