Creos Begins Construction Work on the mosaHYc Hydrogen Pipeline in Saarland

At the end of August, Creos Deutschland GmbH, together with representatives from politics and business, marked the start of construction on the hydrogen pipeline from Leidingen to Dillingen with a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony in Wallerfangen. The approximately 17-kilometer-long pipeline forms the German part of the cross-border hydrogen project mosaHYc (moselle-saar-Hydrogen conversion) and will transport hydrogen from France to Dillingen. After several years of planning and permitting, construction has begun on a crucial infrastructure project for the transformation of the energy supply in Saarland and the Greater Region.

The project on the German side is classified as an Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) and is being funded by the federal and state governments. The basis for the start of construction is the planning approval granted in July. Construction is expected to take approximately one and a half years. The invitation to the groundbreaking ceremony was themed "Milestone reached – checkmark ticked."

Anke Rehlinger, Minister-President of Saarland, emphasized the importance of the project for the Saarland industrial region at the ceremony. The groundbreaking ceremony marks the beginning of a new chapter for the region and creates the necessary infrastructure to lead the industry into the future in a more climate-friendly and competitive way.
