Federal Network Agency confirms NBB’s maximum efficiency in gas network operations

NBB Netzgesellschaft Berlin-Brandenburg is among the most efficient gas network operators in Germany. This has been confirmed by the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) in its current nationwide efficiency comparison. The efficiency analysis is designed to encourage network operators to adopt innovative approaches for cost reduction and efficiency improvement.

The BNetzA’s assessment is based on data from 2020 and takes into account both technical and economic criteria. The cost structures of the network operators are evaluated in relation to the number of network customers and the technical infrastructure in place.

Maik Wortmeier, Chairman of the NBB Management Board, praised the results of the comparison and emphasized that NBB is making optimal use of its capabilities.

Already in August, NBB was informed by the BNetzA about the outcome of the efficiency evaluation. The results of the comparison are also expected to be included in the calculation of network tariffs, which are scheduled to be published in mid-October.
