Opening of the Hydrogen Filling Station of HY.Kiel
Official opening for the HY.Kiel project, co-initiated by GP JOULE: After five years of planning and construction, Minister-President Daniel Günther opened the first public hydrogen filling station in the state capital on Thursday. Together with guests from politics and business, the project participants celebrated the commissioning of the regional, sustainable hydrogen ecosystem. Private investors can also invest in the HY.Kiel project through the GP JOULE INVEST CROWD.
After the funding applications, permitting, and project planning work were completed in the summer of 2024 by the project planning and EPC service provider GP JOULE Hydrogen, things moved very quickly: Construction work on the hydrogen production plant and filling station was completed within a very short time. The first refuelings at the 350-bar and 700-bar pumps have already taken place. The hydrogen filling station is now entering test operation and will provide regionally produced green hydrogen for buses, trucks, and cars.
"With the filling station opened today, we are taking another important step towards the energy transition: Green hydrogen will be produced and used locally here in Kiel. This is a win for climate protection and regional value creation," said Schleswig-Holstein's Minister-President Daniel Günther at the opening.
