Pfenning Logistics Focuses on Bio-CNG: New OG Clean Fuels Filling Station Opens in Nerdlen

Since the end of October, the Pfenning Group has been using climate-neutral trucks for regional transport around Nerdlen (Vulkaneifel district). This is made possible by the construction of a new CNG filling station suitable for heavy goods vehicles by OG Clean Fuels. Currently, 20 Iveco CNG trucks are on order, and the fleet is expected to grow to 60 vehicles in the future. This aligns with the group's sustainability goals, which aim to gradually decarbonize its warehousing and transport activities. The company views the use of these vehicles as a pilot project for transforming its logistics fleet towards climate-friendly propulsion systems.

OG Clean Fuels is also driving the expansion of sustainable fuel infrastructure. The company is pursuing an approach of specifically optimizing its nationwide CNG filling station grid to meet the needs of road freight transport. Sales representatives stated that with approximately 160 public CNG locations, bio-CNG is already available for use in regional and long-distance transport throughout Germany. The Nerdlen site is another building block in ensuring the supply of fuel for trucks and supporting transport companies in their efforts to combat climate change.

According to OG Clean Fuels, demand from the logistics sector is rising significantly. While climate protection is receiving less attention in some parts of the public debate, transport companies are facing increasing economic and market pressure to gradually replace diesel. Customer requirements and cost structures are making alternative, climate-friendly truck propulsion systems increasingly essential for competitive transport.

“We opted for climate-neutral bio-CNG as our fuel because it meets both economic and operational requirements while also resulting in an immediate reduction in CO2 emissions,” said Rana Matthias Nag, spokesperson for the Pfenning Group's management.
