Preparatory Work for the HYLU Hydrogen Pipeline has Begun

GASCADE Gastransport GmbH has begun planning for a roughly 15-kilometer-long hydrogen pipeline from Lampertheim in Baden-Württemberg to Ludwigshafen am Rhein. This section of the pipeline is part of the HYLU (Hydrogen Ludwigshafen) project, which will transport hydrogen to the Ludwigshafen industrial region via sections of the converted MIDAL long-distance gas pipeline. As part of the core hydrogen grid, the pipeline is scheduled for completion by the end of 2029 and will reinforce Lampertheim's role within the national hydrogen strategy.

To ensure the continued supply of natural gas to the Lampertheim region, a gas pressure regulating and metering station (GDRM) will also be required. This station will be integrated into the existing natural gas grid and is expected to become operational in 2028. The entire project is part of the "Flow – making hydrogen happen" program and aims to support the local transformation towards a low-carbon energy supply.
