Siemens and atmen Cooperate to Simplify Certification of PtX Projects

Ensuring that Power-to-X and hydrogen projects comply with existing regulations is essential on the path to net zero. Against this backdrop, Siemens and the Munich-based technology startup atmen have entered into a global strategic partnership. The aim of the collaboration is to combine Siemens’ digital tools for plant and supply chain planning with atmen’s certification software. In this way, both companies want to provide developers and operators of Power-to-X plants with a solution that allows them to realistically integrate regulatory requirements — for example, those under the RED III — into their planning and implementation processes. Certification requirements are thus to be incorporated at an early project stage, enabling projects to reach approval readiness more efficiently and quickly.

According to the companies, atmen’s software modules will in future be seamlessly integrated into Siemens’ Digital Twin and control technologies. This would allow dispersed project data to be transferred into a continuous flow of information.

Peter Ammann, Head of the Competence Center for the Hydrogen Business at Siemens, emphasized that the partnership stands for innovation, traceability, and sustainability along the entire value chain. By combining the strengths of both companies, the transformation from gas to hydrogen infrastructures can be made more efficient, safer, and more transparent.

The agreement provides for a structured collaboration with joint business opportunities, coordinated tenders, and regular exchanges on market trends. Through this partnership, Siemens and atmen aim to reduce project costs, simplify plant certification, and strengthen confidence in sustainable gas and Power-to-X projects across Europe.
