Thyssenkrupp Signed a Letter of Intent to Purchase Green Iron from the Australian PGS
Thyssenkrupp Materials Trading has signed a letter of intent with Australian project developer Progressive Green Solutions (PGS) to purchase all green hydrogen-based iron products from the planned Mid-West Green Iron project in Western Australia. Although not yet legally binding, the letter of intent signals a strong commitment to commercializing one of the world's largest planned hydrogen-to-iron production chains.
The electrolyzers for the project will be supplied by Thyssenkrupp Nucera. This would represent a significant deployment of German electrolysis technology in the emerging green metals corridor of Mid-West Australia.
"This agreement marks an important step towards low-carbon steelmaking and industrial transformation. The signing of a comprehensive offtake agreement underscores our shared commitment to building robust, future-proof supply chains," said Wolfgang Schnittker, CEO of Thyssenkrupp Materials Trading.
