Continuity at the Top, Growth in Membership: Association Strengthens Leadership and Relevance

  • Dr. Friedbert Pflüger confirmed as Chairman of the Supervisory Board.
  • Power2X Services joins the association – now over 130 companies in the network covering the entire gas and hydrogen value chain.
  • The German Carbon Management Initiative continues to grow, bringing together more companies along the CO₂ value chain.

With the re-election of Dr. Friedbert Pflüger as Chairman of the Supervisory Board and the further expansion of its membership base, the association Die Gas- und Wasserstoffwirtschaft is sending a clear signal of continuity and growth. The association now represents more than 130 companies along the entire value chain – and, through the expanding German Carbon Management Initiative (DCMI), it is also strengthening its role as a driver of infrastructure development and climate protection.

At its most recent Supervisory Board meeting, the industry association Die Gas- und Wasserstoffwirtschaft set both personnel and strategic directions for the future. Dr. Friedbert Pflüger was unanimously re-elected as Chairman of the Supervisory Board. The members appointed Gundolf Schweppe (Uniper), Hamead Ahrary (SEFE), and Oliver F. Hill (VNG) as his deputies.

With Power2X Services, the association welcomes another member company developing innovative solutions across the energy and hydrogen value chain. The network now encompasses more than 130 companies from all sectors of the industry, from infrastructure and trading to industrial applications.

The German Carbon Management Initiative (DCMI), coordinated by the association, is also continuing to grow. Several companies from the CO₂ logistics and trading sectors – including SEFE, Uniper, OGE, Gasunie, Höegh Evi, and Everllence – are contributing their expertise and solutions, further strengthening the outlook for CCS and CCU in Germany.

Managing Director Dr. Timm Kehler welcomed the association’s progress:

"The continuity in leadership under Friedbert Pflüger, who has been instrumental in shaping the association’s strategy in recent years, along with the growth in both our membership and the German Carbon Management Initiative, reinforces our mandate – for security of supply, climate protection, and industrial competitiveness."
