Strong Partners, New Perspectives: Association Expands Leadership Structure and Network
- The gas and hydrogen industry is expanding its supervisory board and strengthening its expertise in network operation, municipal utilities, and international project development.
- With five new member companies from the fields of hydrogen, LNG infrastructure and climate-friendly plant technology, the network continues to grow.
- Kehler: “Those who want to shape the energy supply of tomorrow must bring the right partners to the table today. Our association brings these players together.”
The association Die Gas- und Wasserstoffwirtschaft is setting the course for the next steps of the energy transition. With new faces on the supervisory board and additional member companies, the association strengthens its role as a driving force for supply security, climate protection, and infrastructure development.
With strong partners and fresh momentum, the gas and hydrogen industry is continuing to advance the transformation of the energy supply. At its general assembly, the association elected four new individuals to the supervisory board: Ralph Bahke, Managing Director of ONTRAS Gasnetztransport GmbH, Martina Butz, Managing Director of Stadtwerke Hanau GmbH, Matthias Klein-Lassek, Managing Director of Dortmunder Energie- und Wasserversorgung GmbH, and Daniel Muthmann, Vice President Business Development at Höegh EVI AS.
They bring with them many years of experience in transmission system operations, municipal energy supply, public utility management, and international project business in the LNG and hydrogen sectors. Their know-how significantly strengthens the association in the ongoing transformation of the industry.
With thanks and appreciation, the assembly bid farewell to Maik Thum, who was Managing Director of Rheinhessische Energie- und Wasserversorgung GmbH until April 2025, and Stephan Lommetz, Managing Director of Stadtwerke Neuss GmbH, from the supervisory board. The remaining current members of the body were confirmed in their positions and will continue their successful work.
At the same time, Chariman Dr. Timm Kehler welcomed a number of new member companies, saying: “Those who want to shape the energy supply of tomorrow must bring the right partners to the table today. Our association brings these players together.”
The regional hydrogen company Wasserstoff Lichtenau GmbH & Co. KG is strengthening the association just as much as the operator of bio-LNG filling stations Rolande Germany GmbH. Also new is Reganosa Deutschland GmbH, part of the Spain-based Reganosa Group specializing in the planning, construction, and operation of LNG terminals.
Further impulses for climate neutrality and new fields of application are being provided by Everllence SE and ENGIE Deutschland AG. Everllence, formerly MAN Energy Solutions, develops climate-friendly large engine and plant technology, especially for hydrogen and ammonia. ENGIE is building a comprehensive green hydrogen value chain – from production to industrial and municipal applications.
“The new members strengthen our ambition to represent the complete gas and hydrogen value chain – from production and transport to the use of gas and hydrogen,” emphasizes Dr. Timm Kehler, chairman of the association Die Gas- und Wasserstoffwirtschaft. “Together, we can ensure supply security, achieve climate goals, and do so within a competitive market environment.”
The startup cluster is also continuing to grow, including Hanseatic Hydrogen GmbH, which aims to produce green hydrogen in Stade from 2028. With the H2 Startup Cluster, the gas and hydrogen industry offers young companies an information and exchange platform based on years of expertise.
