Wow! We are thrilled to receive two – of the three – main awards at the City of Aarhus Architecture Awards (Aarhus Kommunes Arkitekturpris).

Since 1988, the City of Aarhus has honoured new buildings of exceptional architectural quality – and, at this year’s awards, our designs of Nye and Pakhusene were rewarded for exactly this. According to the jury, they were rewarded for, respectively, “uncompromising striving for integration of sustainable solutions at all levels through architectural approaches” and for “functioning as a three-dimensional city where homes, businesses, restaurants, specialty shops, urban common areas and outdoor living are intertwined, both vertically and horizontally”.

Our contribution to the emerging sustainable town of Nye, north of Aarhus, consists of 50 diverse residential units we designed for Tækker. Pakhusene, on the other hand, is a mixed-use development we designed for PFA Ejendomme , Domis and Kilden & Hindby in the new harbour district of Aarhus Ø. Despite their difference in scale, materiality, and functionality, both designs embody the same commitment to creating the greatest impact possible for their users and their surroundings. Both designs are thus deeply inspired by the sharing economy; by sharing facilities, people, organisations and businesses gain access to far more space and opportunities, and new relationships and communities are created based on a strong sustainable mindset.

We are honoured that our impact-based take on architecture has been rewarded by Aarhus Kommune, and we are deeply thankful to our developers for trusting us with the design of such ambitious projects and to our collaborators for helping us to realise them.@
