Bastian Buus Claims Podium at Nürburgring 24H
A podium finish for Danish Porsche factory driver Bastian Buus, who claimed an impressive third place in this year’s edition of the legendary and grueling 24 Hours of Nürburgring.
The goal was a top-five finish – but Bastian Buus went beyond expectations by crossing the line in an outstanding third place in this year’s 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. For the 22-year-old Dane, it marked his first-ever podium in a 24-hour race, achieved through a stable and controlled performance that paid off with a top result.
Buus secured the trophy alongside teammates Matteo Cairoli, Joel Sturm, Loek Hartog, and the rest of the Dinamic GT crew. The private Italian team finished just behind Porsche’s official factory squad, which had actually crossed the finish line first but had to relinquish the win to BMW’s works team due to a time penalty.
"I’m incredibly happy on behalf of the entire team. We finished behind two official factory cars, which is something to be very proud of. Honestly, we didn’t expect to finish this high. During preparations, it became clear we didn’t have the outright pace to be among the fastest, so we knew from the start that a good result would depend on a clean, problem-free run. That’s exactly what we managed to do," said Bastian Buus.
Following a challenging qualifying session, Buus and his teammates had to start further down the grid in the 27-car top class when the race went green on Saturday afternoon. However, the quartet quickly fought their way up the ranks and remained in the top 10 for most of the race. In the final phase, the team was running fifth when a strategic pit stop moved the Pirelli-sponsored Porsche – with Buus behind the wheel – up into fourth place.
"We had a bit of luck when one of our top competitors ran into trouble in the very last hour. That moved us up to third, and from there it was all about bringing the car home safely. It was an amazing feeling knowing a podium was waiting for us, and I can’t thank the team and my teammates enough for a fantastic effort," Buus added.
With a trophy in hand, Bastian Buus now sets his sights on the next 24-hour challenge – the Belgian endurance classic at Spa-Francorchamps. The Dane will once again race with Dinamic GT, this time alongside Mathieu Jaminet and Matt Campbell, both regulars in Porsche’s official Hypercar program. The trio will compete in the Pro class.
