GB4 Championship: Luca Magnussen ready for comeback at Silverstone
After missing a round due to hospital visit, Luca Magnussen is now set to make his comeback in the GB4 Championship – this time at his favourite circuit, Silverstone.
An inflamed appendix sent Magnussen to the operating table earlier this summer, forcing the 15-year-old talent to sit out the fourth round of the GB4 Championship. Now, the Dane and his Fortec Motorsports team are back in action for the fifth round of the British junior series – and on Magnussen’s preferred track, the iconic Silverstone Circuit.
“Silverstone suits my driving style extremely well, and it’s definitely the circuit where I’ve had the strongest tests during pre-season. At the same time, it’s a legendary place with so many passionate English racing fans, so I can’t wait to be back,” said Luca Magnussen.
This will be the second visit to Silverstone for the GB4 field in the 2025 season. Magnussen hopes for an even stronger weekend than in April, when he showed good pace but also fell victim to some aggressive rivals in his SASHI Beef Lover-backed car.
“We definitely had the speed for top-10 finishes, but due to contact with other cars I had to retire from one race and lost several positions in another. Still, it was a positive weekend because it proved that we have the pace to fight at the sharp end of the field. Our goal for this weekend is to build on that,” Magnussen explained.
Although Luca Magnussen was forced to skip one round of the GB4 Championship and missed out on valuable points, his approach to the season remains unchanged.
“This is my first year in the series, so the goal has never been to fight for the championship but to gain as much experience as possible. Of course, it’s frustrating to miss a round and three important races, but I’ve progressed with every weekend so far, and as long as that learning curve keeps moving in the right direction, we are on track. I’m really looking forward to reuniting with the team and continuing the work,” he said.
The fifth round of the GB4 Championship takes place at Silverstone this coming weekend. Qualifying and the first race will be held on Saturday, 2 August at 10:00 and 13:20 CEST, while the second and third races go green on Sunday, 3 August at 13:00 and 17:50. All races will be streamed live on YouTube.
