Julio Enrique Jiménez, new director of the Spanish Tourist Office in Helsinki

The Spanish Tourist Office in Helsinki welcomes its new director: Mr. Julio Enrique Jiménez has been appointed director of the Spanish Tourist Office responsible for the Finnish and Estonian markets since the beginning of September. Together with the rest of the Tourspain team, he will address the great changes and challenges in tourism caused by the pandemic. According to Tourspain, the aim is to reactivate the destination and the emotional bonds with Spain while applying Tourspain’s new marketing strategy in the coming years, in order to recover the leadership of Spain as an international tourist destination.

The Spanish Tourist Office in Helsinki participates actively in the organisation of events, fairs, press trips and fam trips for travel agents. In addition, the Spanish Tourist Office in Helsinki is responsible for numerous marketing activities and elaborates several market studies on tourism flow from Finland and Estonia to Spain. The office also provides official information for travelling to Spain and enjoying Spanish destinations.

In his previous position, Mr. Jiménez served as executive advisor at the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of Spain. He coordinated the design of the Tourism Sector Modernization and Competitiveness Plan, a set of long-term reforms and investments aiming to transform the tourism offer within the framework of the Next Generation EU funds, as well as other different tourism recovery programs in response of the COVID-19 crisis. He has also worked in the Ministry for Territorial Policy in Spain and, prior to that, he practiced as public attorney.
