Press release -

Spain is promoted as a tourist destination during the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival

On the occasion of the 25th edition of the Black Nights Film Festival, which takes place in Tallinn (Estonia) from 12-28 November 2021, the Embassy of Spain in Estonia and the Spanish Tourist Office in Helsinki, responsible for the Finnish and Estonian markets, participate in the Film Festival with several actions aimed at promoting Spain and supporting the organisation of the festival.

On the one hand, the Embassy of Spain in Estonia is present at the Festival as a sponsor, supporting the organisation of the event -one of the most relevant cultural events held each year in Estonia- and supporting the presence of 10 Spanish productions or co-productions in this edition.

On the other hand, the Spanish Tourist Office has launched a campaign consisting of the projection of promotional videos on ten screens distributed in various emblematic places in the Estonian capital, such as the Town Hall Square, the Coca-Cola Plaza Cinema or the airport.

The audiovisual material that is projected on these screens consists of videos from the recent campaign “You deserve Spain”. The first promotional video focuses on the Canary Islands, a key destination in the winter season for travellers from the Baltic and Nordic countries. The second video of the campaign highlights the experiential and cultural product that Spain offers as a tourist destination linked to creative activities, such as the Festival itself. Another of the audiovisual pieces that are part of the campaign promotes sun and beach tourism in Spain, one of the star products for these northern European markets. Finally, a fourth video is devoted to the Way of Saint James, with the aim of decentralising tourism, diversifying the offer and giving greater dissemination to activities that can be done outdoors in Spain.

Black Nights Film Festival

Founded in 1997, the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival has become one of the biggest film festivals in Northern Europe and one of the busiest regional industry platforms. It hosts more than 1000 guests and industry delegates and over 160 journalists. The festival screens around 250 features and more than 300 shorts and animations and has an attendance of 80 000 people each year.

Since 2014 the festival holds the FIAPF accreditation for holding an international competition programme which puts the festival into the A-category of film festivals, together with other 14 festivals in the world.
