Four Film i Väst Co-productions Selected for the Toronto International Film Festival

Four Film i Väst co-productions have been selected for the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Amanda Kernell's Brace Your Heart and Amalie Næsby Fick's What Lies Between Us will celebrate their world premieres at the festival, while Fjord by Cristian Mungiu and Gentle Monster by Marie Kreutzer return to the international festival circuit following their premieres at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.

Amanda Kernell's Brace Your Heart will have its world premiere in Platform, TIFF's competition programme. The film follows 20-year-old Ejva, who must take over responsibility for her family's reindeer herd after the death of her father. When she falls in love for the first time, her future and her life are thrown into uncertainty. The film is written and directed by Amanda Kernell and produced by Eva Åkergren for Nordisk Film Production.

Cristian Mungiu's Fjord and Marie Kreutzer's Gentle Monster will also screen in Toronto following their world premieres in the Competition section at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.

"Having four of our co-productions selected for TIFF is yet another testament to the international strength of the Nordic and European filmmakers we collaborate with. Toronto is one of the world's leading film festivals and an important platform for a film's international journey, connecting filmmakers with audiences and the global film industry," says Kristina Börjeson, Head of Production at Film i Väst.

The 51st edition of the Toronto International Film Festival takes place between September 10–20, 2026.
