There are two new buildings worthy of awards in the Goetheanum Park: the expressive Preparation Pavilion (designed by Yaike Dunselman) received the 2025 Iconic Award and the 2026 German Design Award; the Bee Sculpture (designed by Barbara Schnetzler) an ‘Honourable Mentions’ award from the architecture and design platform March and an appreciation award from the Canton of Solothurn, Switzerland.
A hundred years ago, in the New Year‘s Night 1922/1923, the First Goetheanum was destroyed in an arson attack. Events in and around the Goetheanum will be devoted to the commemoration of this loss. The building was intended as a response to the social crises of World War I and the needs of that time: a spiritual impulse for cultural renewal.
The Goetheanum in Dornach, Switzerland, was intended as a building that would inspire cultural impulses. It was erected during the First World War by people from seventeen nations. One hundred years after its destruction by fire in 1922/1923, experts are discussing metamorphosis as a creative impulse in architecture, sculpture, painting and glass carving.
