  • Russian shipping line in Gothenburg for the first time

    For the first time ever the Port of Gothenburg has a Russian container line as a customer. Delta Shipping Lines will put into Gothenburg as part of the scheduled route between northern Germany and St Petersburg.

    High-value goods and trafficking of drugs and people. There are many reasons why ports are broken into. The Port of Gothenburg is no exception although after a major security initiative the number of incidents has fallen dramatically.

  • Port of Gothenburg announces 155 redundancies

    Due to the sharp downturn in import and export volumes, the Port of Gothenburg has issued redundancy notices to 155 employees. The redundancies will include dock workers, managers and white-collar staff.

  • Hong Kong shipping line focuses on Gothenburg

    The Hong Kong-based shipping line OOCL is set to become a new customer for the Port of Gothenburg. In March, a new line will commence linking Gothenburg with Russia and the continent.

  • Port of Gothenburg becomes transit port for the Russian market

    Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics has chosen the Port of Gothenburg as the transit port for cars and other vehicles destined for the Russian market. A new route has commenced between Gothenburg and the ports in St Petersburg and Kotka.

  • Oil and rail up - vehicles and truck trailers down

    The Port of Gothenburg, the largest port in the Nordic region, is a reflection of Swedish industry. Whilst the first half of 2008 showed an increase for a number of goods categories, volumes fell during the second half of the year. Despite the downturn, new volume records were set for containers, oil and rail.

  • New shipping route between Gothenburg and Australia

    In November, Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics will start a new shipping route between Gothenburg and Australia. The company will mainly carry cars, trucks and construction machines.

  • CMA CGM chooses Port of Gothenburg

    The world's third largest container shipping company - CMA CGM - is the latest company to choose the Port of Gothenburg. In November a new route will be opened, linking the Port of Gothenburg with the Far East.

  • Honda cars shipped to Port of Gothenburg

    Honda has chosen the Port of Gothenburg as its new port of entry. All Honda Civics and Honda CR-Vs for the Swedish and Danish markets will now be brought in via Gothenburg, totalling 8,000 vehicles each year.

  • New shipping line between St Petersburg and Gothenburg

    A new freight line has been opened up between St Petersburg and the Port of Gothenburg. The Singapore headquartered shipping line X-Press Container Line has commenced operating a loop from Russia to Scandinavia, down to the continent and back to Russia.
