    The new Lövholmen Intermodal Terminal in Piteå recently celebrated one year of operation. With its strategic location next to the E4 highway and major industries in the area, combined with growing capacity and departure frequency to and from The port of Gothenburg, the terminal aims to become a northern transport hub open to the entire region’s business community.

  • Work started on 45,000 sqm logistics property at the Port of Gothenburg

    On Monday, the first shovel was turned for a new 45,000 sqm logistics building at Halvorsäng, just a stone's throw from the Port of Gothenburg. The port and Castellum have now begun work on building a fully leased, efficient, and sustainable logistics facility through a joint venture. The tenant is the medical technology company OneMed, which plans to move in during 2026.

  • Northern European ports in collaboration receive EU Funding for onshore power for container ships

    Four Northern European ports are set to significantly reduce emissions from container ships moored at their quays. With a joint support of €18,8 million from the EU fund “Connecting Europe Facility” for the project “EU.OPS.Network”, the ports of Aarhus, Gothenburg, Bremerhaven, and Stockholm are set to provide Onshore Power Supply (OPS) to container ships calling at the ports by 2030.

    In 2023, the Port of Gothenburg handled more containers than ever before. During the first three quarters of this year, the port handled 685,000 containers (TEU*) – 8,000 more than the same period last year.

  • Hydrogen refueling station for heavy traffic opened at the Port of Gothenburg

    A hydrogen refueling station for heavy traffic has opened at the Port of Gothenburg during the weekend. The station is located directly adjacent to one of the port’s busiest gates, which is also one of the most truck-heavy locations in Sweden. The station exclusively supplies green hydrogen.

  • New direct service between the Port of Gothenburg and Asia

    A newly launched RoRo (Roll-On/Roll-Off) shipping route between the Port of Gothenburg and ports in China via Singapore is now in operation. The cargo consists mainly of vehicles, but the newly built ships, powered by LNG, are also designed to handle project cargo. The shipping company COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers is responsible for the service, which will initially operate once a month.

  • Shipping company CLdN celebrates 25 years of service at the Port of Gothenburg

    In September 1999, the Luxembourg-based shipping company CLdN began its service between the Port of Gothenburg and the Belgian transport hub Zeebrugge. Since then, the service has continued to evolve in terms of frequency, destinations, capacity, volume and sustainability performance.
