DFDS connects vessels to onshore power supply in Port of Gothenburg
DFDS Seaways is about to connect its vessels to onshore power supply at the Port of Gothenburg. Six vessels are involved, all of which are in regular service to the UK and Belgium.

A new shuttle between Stockholm Årsta and the Port of Gothenburg will come into service today. The shuttle provides companies throughout the Stockholm area with a rapid, environmentally smart link to key import and export markets.

Rise in Swedish exports to markets outside Europe
During the first six months of the year, the number of containers exported via the Port of Gothenburg rose by 3 per cent. This is a new volume record and a reflection of strong Swedish export volumes to markets outside Europe. Trade flows within Europe, however, continue to be weak. This is shown in the Port of Gothenburg half-yearly report presented today.

Pilots' strike in Oslo – several new calls by cruise ships at the Port of Gothenburg
Last week, striking pilots brought Oslofjorden to a standstill. The cruise ships that were scheduled to visit Oslofjorden are now searching for new ports of call. To date, the Port of Gothenburg has received four new cruise ships and eight more are underway.

New direct deep sea service between Sweden and China
A new direct deep sea service to the Far East for Swedish import and export industry has been announced. The new service will include a weekly call to the Port of Gothenburg, commencing on April 18.

EU approves acquisition of Port of Gothenburg Ro-Ro Terminal
Major port deal: Late yesterday afternoon, notice of approval was received from the EU Commission for the acquisition of Älvsborg Ro/Ro AB – the Ro-Ro Terminal at the Port of Gothenburg – by DFDS and C.Ro Ports. The transfer is planned for the beginning of May.

Gothenburg cruise season now under way
The arrival of the German cruise ship Aidacara in Gothenburg today will mark the start of the 2012 cruise season. The vessel is one of 62 vessels due to visit Gothenburg this year, which is a new record.

Premiere: Today the National Shipping Administration VTS system and the pilot ordering system will join forces with the Port of Gothenburg approach and berthing system. The aim of this new collaboration is a quicker, safer and greener approach by vessels.

Strong spring – weak autumn at the largest port in Scandinavia
The beginning of 2011 was marked by a sharp rise in volumes at the Port of Gothenburg. During the summer however, growth levelled out and in the autumn, there was a fall in import and export volumes for several categories of goods. Despite this, the figures for 2011 reveal record volumes for container traffic.
