First Super-G victory for Emma Aicher
Emma Aicher joins the list of winners, also in the Super-G. The 21-year-old German athlete races to victory in the Super-G in La Thuile on Thursday to follow up her debut World Cup win in the Downhill in Kvitfjell at the beginning of March. Atle Lie McGrath finishes second at his home Slalom in Hafjell on Sunday, his sixth podium of the season.
"The way Emma Aicher skied was awesome. For her to win a second victory within such a short time, and in another discipline, is fantastic. She was also heading for the top in the second race in La Thuile," said HEAD Racing Director Rainer Salzgeber. "Atle Lie McGrath also skied an excellent race. This season and the Silver medal at the World Cup have been hard work, so it's great to see him put in such a thrilling performance in front of the home crowd. Oscar Andreas Sandvik finished 15th in the Slalom to score World Cup points for the first time. He is still in the running to win the Slalom discipline and the overall ranking in the Europa Cup. In the Giant Slalom, Anton Grammel clocked the fastest time on one of the runs, and junior World Champion Flavio Vitale bagged his first points in the World Cup. This confirms that our strategy of supporting young athletes is the right way to go."
"Let the skis run"
Following up on her win in the Downhill, Emma Aicher has now also aced the Super-G. The German athlete won the first Super-G in La Thulie on Thursday, which was held on a shortened course due to poor weather conditions. Previously, the 21-year-old's personal best in this discipline was fifth place in Kvitffell in March 2025. "It felt completely normal. I just wanted to let the skis run, keep up the speed, and ski the fastest line," explained Emma Aicher at the finish.
Lara Gut-Behrami just misses the podium
Lara Gut-Behrami from Switzerland narrowly missed the podium in fourth place. The top 15 also included Ariane Rädler and Stephanie Venier from Austria in eighth and tenth place, Elena Curtoni from Italy twelfth, and Corinne Suter from Switzerland 14th. Points were also picked up by Laura Pirovano from Italy in 17th place, Laura Gauche from France 19th, Kajsa Vickhoff Lie from Norway 20th, and Nadine Fest from Austria in 21st place.
Eight HEAD World Cup Rebels in the top 15
In the second, shortened Super-G in La Thuile on Friday, Lara Gut-Behrami and Corinne Suter shared fourth place. The HEAD World Cup Rebels yet again put in a strong team performance with eight athletes in the top 15: Elena Curtoni finished sixth, Ariane Rädler seventh, Kajsa Vickhoff Lie eighth, Laura Gauche eleventh, Lindsey Vonn from The USA 13th, and Cornelia Hütter from Austria 15th. Points were also won by Karen Clement from France in 17th place, Stephanie Venier and Magdalena Egger from Austria 18th and 23rd, Laura Pirovano 26th, and Stephanie Brunner from Austria in 29th place. "In a home race, it's incredible, a childhood dream"
Hafjell in Norway saw the men's team compete in their last races before the finals in the USA. Atle Lie McGrath once again confirmed his superb form in the Slalom this season by finishing second on Sunday. For the 24-year-old Norwegian, in fifth place after the first run, this is his sixth podium of the season, his fifth in the Slalom. "I'm very happy with the podium. In a home race, it's incredible, a childhood dream. It's a unique run, not so steep, but with more rollers. You have to ski full speed and still stay smart," said Atle Lie McGrath. Points were also scored by Benjamin Ritchie from the USA in 14th place, Oscar Andreas Sandvik from Norway 15th, Dave Ryding from Great Britain 17th, Johannes Strolz from Austria 20th, and Armand Marchant from Belgium in 22nd place. 20-year-old Oscar Andreas Sandvik, who started with bib number 47, was delighted to win his first World Cup points, having clocked the second-fastest time on run two.
Anton Grammel makes the top ten with the fastest run
