Victory for Corinne Suter and Emma Aicher in Soldeu

Two athletes who returned to the World Cup this season following injuries win a double victory for the HEAD Worldcup Rebels in the Downhill in Soldeu on Friday: Corinne Suter stands on top of the podium for the sixth time, Nina Ortlieb in second place, just missing her first Downhill victory eleven hundredths of a second behind her. Emma Aicher wins the first Super-G in Soldeu on Saturday with her fifth World Cup victory. And in the second Super-G on Sunday, two HEAD athletes celebrate podium finishes: Emma Aicher in second place, and Kajsa Vickhoff Lie who is third.

"Emma Aicher has finished first, second and fourth in three races; that's really brilliant! On Sunday, she was unlucky with the changing light conditions," said HEAD Racing Director Rainer Salzgeber. "Corinne Suter's performance was a very special result. Falling during training set her back weeks. Her recovery, followed by another victory after such a long time, makes this all the better. On Sunday, she showed what she's capable of in the Super-G with bib number 1. Everyone watching could see her focus and commitment on the day. The fact that so many athletes in our women's team are at the top is truly extraordinary. Vincent Kriechmayr and Franjo von Allmen both performed well in the Downhill. Five HEAD athletes were in the top eleven, which was one of our best results as a team."

First World Cup victory since December 2022

Corinne Suter celebrated her return to the World Cup in January following an injury in early December and nailed it on Friday in Soldeu with her sixth World Cup victory. This is her fourth in the Downhill, and first since December 2022. "It took me a while to win because I needed time to regain confidence in the Downhill discipline. This time I felt I could finally let go of the handbrake, so let's see what happens next. A lot has happened since my previous victory, hopefully it won't take another four years until the next one!" said Corinne Suter at the finish.

Six HEAD Worldcup Rebels in the top nine

Nina Ortlieb raced to second place in the Downhill, narrowly missing out on her first Downhill victory. The Austrian athlete has won two World Cup victories so far, both in the Super-G. "I am happy with that. I knew that this is my kind of run. All in all, I skied well and I showed a lot of commitment," said Nina Ortlieb. No fewer than six HEAD Worldcup Rebels finished in the top nine, with Emma Aicher from Germany in fourth place, Cornelia Hütter from Austria sixth, Kajsa Vickhoff Lie from Norway seventh, and Laura Pirovano from Italy in ninth place. World Cup points also went to Ariane Rädler from Austria in 14th place, Elena Curtoni from Italy 18th, Nadine Fest from Austria 19th, Allison Mollin and Keely Cashman from the USA 21st and 22nd, Jasmin Mathis from Switzerland 23rd, Lena Wechner from Austria 26th, and Delia Durrer from Switzerland 30th. Lindsey Vonn, who is injured, still leads the Downhill World Cup with 400 points. Emma Aicher is in second place with 306 points.
