Press release -

Swedish top chef Daniel Berlin brings the flavour to one of Europe’s most innovative cities during H22 City Expo

Award-winning chef Daniel Berlin is now involved in H22 City Expo. During the 35-day long international event in Helsingborg next summer, this top chef is making sure that the food reflects the future, is innovative, and sustainable.

There will be the aromas and tastes of a spectacular innovation show when Helsingborg – from 30 May to 3 July 2022 – is transformed into a platform for the world’s leading visionaries, change leaders, and other curious visitors.

”Food is clearly an important area when we talk about circular solutions, creative collaborations, and quality of life in the cities of the future,” says Head of H22 City Expo, Soraya Axelsson.

For Daniel Berlin, it is a natural step to get involved in the food of the future and strive to achieve sustainable development both for gastronomy and everyday food.

”I believe that a joint commitment is needed for us to make a difference. H22 City Expo is a great development tool for all of us who work with food, from production to what ends up on the plate in the future,” says Daniel Berlin.

He himself grew up in the neighbouring city of Landskrona. He will now return to the Helsingborg region to take part in H22 City Expo.

”I hope my involvement serves to shine a light on the local food from the area. The region is close to my heart. I know that the northwest part of Skåne has lots to offer in terms of both produce and beverages.”

During H22 City Expo, there will be a range of new and interesting culinary experiences. Daniel Berlin also looks forward to collaborating in different ways with the renowned restauranteurs of Helsingborg.

”Working together with Daniel Berlin is a fantastic opportunity for the Helsingborg restaurant scene to be elevated and participate in the event. We look forward to welcoming all visitors to a sustainable and exciting food experience next summer,” says Emma Håkansson, acting CEO of Helsingborg City Association.

The beautiful Henry Dunkers Plats square, between the Concert Hall and the City Theatre in Helsingborg, will be the location for H22 City Expo’s food arena. This will be the site for a great variety of exciting and inventive happenings, promises Daniel Berlin. There will be everything from top meetings with chefs, special guest features, workshops, and tastings, to in-depth talks between producers, farmers, and other interesting food personalities.

”It’s about finding those passionate individuals and giving them a stage. For me, it’s an important time for change. Our food needs to be more sustainable and healthy. Innovation is needed,” says Daniel Berlin.

Soraya Axelsson, Head of H22 City Expo:

“Daniel Berlin is taking food into the future during H22 City Expo. He is focusing on the healthy ingredients and the joyful food experience for coming generations. The sustainable city needs to be involved in developments that impact food, for the well-being of both individuals and the planet.”
