HX has launched another free online educational course, this time dedicated to Svalbard, developed in partnership with the University of Tasmania (UTAS), further expanding its industry-leading programme of pre-departure learning for guests. Launching from January 2026, the HX ‘1896 Cabin’ will be available exclusively aboard MS Fridtjof Nansen throughout the anniversary year. The experience allows guests to spend one unforgettable night in a meticulously recreated late 19th-century expedition cabin – complete with handcrafted period furnishings, authentic scents, and curated touches that capture the spirit of HX’s earliest explorers.
HX announces new ‘silent science boats’ powered by electricity. The two new MK 5 vessels are fully electric and feature RAD Propulsion’s RAD 40 drive system, the most advanced electric drives on the market. They will now be found on two HX ships, MS Fram and hybrid-battery powered MS Fridtjof Nansen, operating in the Arctic and Antarctic and predominately for guest science boats trips.
