Press release -

Monterro accelerates its focus on Danish software investments – opens office in Copenhagen.

Monterro, the leading Nordic B2B software investor, increases its presence in Denmark with a newly established office and team in Copenhagen to move closer to promising software companies in the country. With experienced local talent, a unique business model, and significant capital, Monterro is well-positioned to accelerate growth for Danish software companies.

"We see solid activity across the Nordic software sector, and Denmark stands out with a very dynamic, internationally oriented software market,” says Gustav Lagercrantz, CEO of Monterro. “There are many strong, founder-led software companies set for international expansion. Our mission aligns well with companies at this growth stage, where there is a need for both capital and strategic, operational support. That’s why we’re making a committed expansion into the Danish market, with a strong pipeline of potential investments and a local team dedicated to support the Danish software companies looking to scale."

Monterro has proven expertise in scaling software businesses internationally

Monterro sets itself apart as an investor; its employees have extensive experience from having built and managed successful Nordic software companies and expanding them abroad.

“Unlike most firms that simply provide capital, we offer a unique approach. The Monterro team has twice as many operational experts as investment professionals. Leveraging our internal expertise and experience, we create genuine partnerships with our portfolio companies, delivering hands-on support to help them navigate the inevitable challenges of growth. This goes beyond the standard offering of traditional tech investors,” says Gustav Lagercrantz.Plus, compared to other firms that only invest other people’s money, the employees at Monterro have a personal stake in each and every investment. A full 25% of the capital we invest comes from our own pockets.

Monterro is already deeply engaged in four investments in Denmark: Umbraco, TimeXtender, UniWise and AG Analytics.

"Having a partner like Monterro has been crucial, as they bring the experience, technical insights, and financial strength needed to propel our continued international expansion," says Nicholas Malcolm, CEO of AG Analytics.

Experienced Danish team onboard

Monterro’s new Danish investment and operational team will be based in central Copenhagen. The team includes Kim Sneum Madsen, who served as CEO/COO of the Danish software company Umbraco for a decade. Monterro acquired a majority stake in Umbraco in 2021.

The team also includes Lasse Diamant, previous Vice President in Corporate Finance at EY with expertise in software M&A, and Christoffer Pasieczny, who brings extensive experience from roles as Head of Strategy and PMO & Customer Service in a private equity-owned company, as well as integration responsible in the software company, EG.

Gustav Lagercrantz explains that the new Danish team is ready to hit the ground running. “With the Danish team in place, we are taking the next steps in the coming months to connect with the many exciting software entrepreneurs in Denmark who want to expand their business."
