Member Story: "Motosumo is different"

Meet Motosumo member - Jaimie!

“Motosumo is different. I took my first two classes on the free version and loved the live atmosphere and realized it made me push harder than I ever have on a bike.”

Fun facts about Jaimie:

  • Jaimie rides from sunny California, USA.
  • Joined Motosumo in December 2021.
  • She takes multiple classes and loves Ben’s engagement and the insanity of a Brooke class. Jaimie rides and finds comfort in the Motosumo community.
  • While she’s not typically one for emojis, she loves to send the star-eyed smiley, the flexing arm, and the exhausted face. … She also wants a new emoji – an EKG symbol representing the feeling of being about to die!

“I came upon Motosumo on YouTube and fell in love!”

Jaimie, who recently turned 50, has been working out since she was 16 years and was a member of 24 hour fitness. When Covid hit, she and her husband converted a downstairs room for cardio equipment. Getting older, she found that her joints now prefer running and biking vs the jumping she’d been doing with HIIT-style workouts tapes.

“Once I got a better and more stable bike and started to search for spinning content, I came upon Motosumo on YouTube and fell in love! I figured you had to have a 'smart' bike to use the app, so I just kept using the classes I found on YouTube. I had an entire playlist filled with Motosumo classes.”

The Motosumo community has class content for everyone, even the self-motivated lone wolves like Jaimie. It is Motosumo’s mission to instill a positive training experience for everyone involved, even those who prefer to work out alone.

“After trying Ben’s class, I was hooked. The first time I took one of Brooke's live classes on the app, I left after just a few minutes, as I was not prepared for the energy that early in the morning. A few weeks later, I tried again and found it to be the best workout ever. I researched Motosumo and the app and joined Brooke’s live classes where I have become part of her #FightClub community. I don't usually take classes because I'm self-motivated, but Motosumo is different. I took my first two classes on the app’s free version and loved the live atmosphere, I then realized it made me push harder than I ever have on a bike. I immediately signed up for the Premium plan and have been taking multiple classes every day since.”

Brooke's dedication to responding to direct messages and comments in the Facebook community has inspired Jaimie to adjust her work schedule to attend those classes and join any live class, as the instructors and community are motivating and supportive. Jaimie is also gaining confidence in sharing her own fitness journey with the community.

“Each instructor and community member brings something different! I love posting in the community group about my own workouts and fitness journey because of how supportive the group is.”

No one is an island, Motosumo is all about becoming healthier and happier and helping others achieve their fitness goals. It’s important to always remember that mental health is just as important as physical strength. A balanced body is also a balanced mind. The Motosumo community — including instructors like Ben and Brooke — are always there to make sure everyone is both feeling okay, and that rest days are respected. It’s all about finding your center.

“Motosumo has made me feel stronger not just in terms of my physical strength, but also in terms of my mental and emotional well-being. I have a tendency to push myself too hard and never take a break, but thanks to the inspiration of the instructors, I have come to understand that it is okay to take a day off and assess how I am feeling. This realization has been difficult to come by, and while I continue to struggle with it, Motosumo has been an invaluable tool to help me in my fitness journey and to focus on the parts of myself that I need to improve.”

“People like Jaimie join (or rejoin) Facebook to be a part of the Motosumo community. I’m glad they are having a great time and finding motivation there; it’s why we created it for our members", says Motosumo Co-founder Allan Steen Olsen, a former pro cyclist himself. In fact, it can be so beneficial that your friends, family, and/or coworkers will thank you for the recommendation, Jaimie for example, says:

“I have already told several of my former coworkers who have bikes and post their fitness accomplishments on Instagram about Motosumo. I have felt connected to several of the Motusumo Facebook community members in the short time I’ve been a part of it. Funnily, I quit Facebook around seven years prior but I decided to rejoin just to be a part of this amazing community! It has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and I'm so glad I decided to give it another try.”

Jaimie believes that the Motosumo community can be beneficial for people of all ages not just to build their physical strength, but to find the mental fortitude to accept their own bodies and their own selves.

Don’t take our word for it; in her own words:

“I have grappled with body issues for years, striving for acceptance and to recognize my strength. The Motosumo instructors and community bring motivation, openness, and honesty, which is incredibly uplifting. If only I had Motosumo and the community during my twenties and thirties!”
