NNIT Launches Validated AI platform for Regulated Collaboration

NNIT announces the launch of Alera, a validated AI platform designed to address the growing gap between rapid AI adoption and strict regulatory requirements in regulated industries such as life sciences, finance, and the public sector.

As AI adoption accelerates, many organizations face a growing gap between the potential of AI and what they can realistically deploy in regulated environments. Regulatory expectations for data integrity, traceability, and accountability often prevent teams from moving beyond isolated pilots or ad‑hoc use of generative AI tools.

To address this need, NNIT introduces Alera, a platform built for systematic and repeatable AI use in regulated environments. Alera provides a structured framework for repeatable AI use, connecting data, roles, and workflows so organizations can move from experimentation to production with confidence.

“Regulated organizations need a way to operationalize AI with full visibility and audit readiness. With Alera, teams can realize the efficiency and quality benefits of AI while maintaining the governance, traceability, and accountability required for regulated work,” says Sam Laermans, Global AI Director, NNIT.

Supports hybrid collaboration between AI Agents and humans

Alera is designed to support an Agentic AI hybrid delivery model in which human experts and AI agents work side by side in clearly defined roles. The platform allows organizations to combine human oversight with AI-driven support across a range of regulated activities.

“Alera’s AI agents can act as role-specific teammates supporting tasks such as project management, software development, validation, and testing. The agents rely on approved knowledge sources, with accountability and final decision-making retained by responsible humans,” adds Sam Laermans.

Built with security and compliance as foundational principles, Alera is cloud-agnostic and can be deployed in cloud or on‑premises environments. The platform can be integrated with regulated systems, with transparency and control embedded by default.

Key benefits:

  • Enables compliant AI adoption: Provides a validated, governed platform that allows organizations to move beyond AI pilots into regulated, production use
  • Secure AI with data sovereignty: All data remains under the customer’s control and is used solely for its intended purpose
  • Transparency and audit readiness: Designed for auditability, observability, and validation, supporting regulatory requirements for traceability and control
  • AI‑supported regulated processes: Configurable AI agents can support and, in many cases, automate regulated workflows and tasks
