NNIT reports Q2 performance on track and prepares for transformation

NNIT’s second quarter financial performance was in line with initial expectations, despite continued customer caution, particularly within the life sciences segments. Supported by targeted growth initiatives aimed at strengthening sales execution, order entry improved across all regions during the quarter, while revenue declined compared to the same period last year.

Despite the continued market challenges, NNIT delivered improved operational performance in Q2 2026. Utilization improved significantly, cost-reduction initiatives supported profitability, and the company saw increased traction with customers on new project engagements. NNIT’s AI frameworks, Lumina and Alera, were applied in selected customer engagements with promising initial results.

“During the second quarter, business performance improved sequentially, driven by targeted growth initiatives and cost reductions progressing as planned. Profitability remained broadly in line with last year, despite lower revenue. Our recent review confirms the strength of our customer relationships and domain expertise, while pointing to clear opportunities to improve commercial execution, delivery, and operational efficiency. We are therefore launching a transformation program to strengthen performance and restore sustainable, profitable growth, while defining NNIT’s future strategic direction which is to become the innovative and AI-driven niche specialist for life sciences internationally and regulated industries in Denmark,” says Claus Rydkjær, CEO, NNIT.

Key highlights

  • Profitability remained solid with Group EBIT excluding special items of DKK 21.3 million, corresponding to a margin of 4.8%, while reported revenue in Q2 amounted to DKK 441.6 million, down 4.4% in constant currency
  • Order entry improved during the quarter across all regions, particularly towards the end of the quarter
  • Public DK and SCALES delivered solid growth, while the life sciences regions remained impacted by continued customer hesitation
  • NNIT is launching a company-wide transformation program focused on commercial, delivery and operational excellence

Public DK and SCALES

Although overall performance continued to reflect a cautious market environment, NNIT saw encouraging momentum in Public DK and SCALES, both of which contributed positively to revenue development in Q2.

  • Public DK: Revenue increased, driven by new projects ramping up with ATP, the Danish Health Data Authority and the Danish Agency for IT and Learning. Profitability improved due to revenue growth, operational efficiency gains and actions taken during Q1 to lower the cost base.
  • SCALES: Revenue grew double-digit, driven by expansion of the customer base through Microsoft D365 services and expansion of existing engagements, and profitability remained strong.

Life sciences regions

The life sciences regions in Europe, the US and Asia remained affected by continued customer caution and lower order entry carried over from Q1. However, order intake improved towards the end of the quarter, with new project wins and extensions of existing engagements.

  • Europe: Saw continued demand in the small and medium-sized customer segments and expanded its presence through new project engagements. Revenue was impacted by lower order entry in Q1 and reduced activity from existing large customers, while cost reductions and capacity adjustments helped mitigate the effect on profitability
  • US: Showed signs of recovery, with improved order entry and two larger contracts signed with large, global pharmaceutical companies in the data migration business, although revenue declined following a weaker backlog entering the quarter
  • Asia: Continued to grow its local customer base, particularly among biotech companies with high demand for AI projects, although revenue declined as expected due to lower revenue from an existing large customer

Outlook for 2026

NNIT maintains its full-year financial outlook for 2026 announced on 7 May 2026. Constant currency revenue growth is expected to be negative single-digit, while group EBIT margin excluding special items is expected to be 4-7%.
