Projectplace hits 500 000 users

Cloud Computing and social media drive the success for Swedish online project management provider Projectplace, as they hit half a million registered users.

The company’s increasing growth, of estimated 20 percent 2009, is driven by several concurrent trends. Projectplace's business model Software as a service is now really breaking through under the realm of Cloud Computing. And with the ever-increasing amount of social media channels and mobile technology, everyone is expected to be constantly updated and able to communicate effectively both at work and in their spare time.

- Projectplace has pioneered both in Cloud Computing and the new era of project collaboration online. These have been the cornerstones of our company since start in 1998. Passing 500 000 users demonstrates that these principles only become more and more relevant, says Pelle Hjortblad, CEO.

In addition, project management theories are changing throughout the world, towards a philosophy where communication and acceptance to change are considered main success factors in projects rather than the traditional detailed planning.

Every month thousands of new users sign up for the Projectplace web tool. Among the customers are Vodafone, Hewlett Packard, DHL, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Annelie Bergman, Research Coordinator at the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority, is user number 500 000.

- I’ve never worked with a similar tool before, but the idea with Projectplace seems to be brilliant, says Annelie Bergman. To gather all information in one place is very efficient, and you can be certain that the information in the project is accurate.

Annelie Bergman is new member in Northnet, a Nordic nuclear safety research project.
